Humans of Newman

Humans of Newman is an initiative to familiarise ACTC students with each other.

Dwayne Lobo:

So Dwayne, tell us a little bit about yourself? I’m from Mt. Albert, Auckland. Most of my young life has been as a hooligan on the streets of Mt. Albert. I have a younger brother, and we moved here from India when I was about 6 or 7.

What do you study and where do you go? I study physiotherapy at AUT. I’m in my second year. I also did three years at Massey. I’ve been coming to Newman Hall for five years now.

So why have you been coming to Newman Hall for five years? Free food and good banter, that’ll pretty much do it. Spiritual food as well. Mass is always good here. Chaplains are always good. Also, being part of UCO. UCO stands for University Christian Outreach. Basically, we’re an outreach group aiming to build a community of Christians. We use Newman Hall to meet during the semester on Friday nights. This year I’m working as the co-leader.

What’s one funny thing or little known fact about yourself? I do a good digereedoo impression (insert strange noises…) It’s more of a duck with a digereedoo.

What’s one really great piece of advice you’ve been given? The key to happiness is being thankful.
